Jennings Safe Aboard Intrepid

Wednesday, November 4, 2009 –

Just a quick note to let you know we're all well after being rescued by Paul, Katie, Harry and Finn on Intrepid. Aside from the loss of a few material possessions and of course the vessel, we are all in excellent shape. We are 300Nm and at current speed 72 hours from Suva, though we may pull into Savu Savu, Fiji to expedite clearance. Our good friends, Don and Priscilla on s/v Chautauqua who left Apia two days earlier than us, headed for Suva, had a rough passage and altered their plan and have arrived safely in Savu Savu this morning.

Throughout or ordeal we were comforted in knowing that Intrepid was nearby and also that, when notified by Paul (or I'm sure by EPIRB had we activated it), the NZ rescue coordination centre was on top of it all. We were happy that our liferaft inflated as promised! More information and conversation to follow as soon as we get to Fiji.
